Volunteers
Pope John Middle School strongly believes in the value of the home-school connection. Throughout the school year, there are many opportunities for parents to become involved during the school day or in our after school activities. If you are interested, please e-mail your name and number Linda Artigliere, Administrative Assistant at lindaartigliere@popejohn.org
In order to be a volunteer or chaperone at PJMS it is required by the Diocese of Paterson, (in this order) to: complete a criminal background check, sign a code of conduct and complete a Virtus (Protecting God’s Children) training course. The criminal background and code of conduct forms are available on this page. Once your background check and code of conduct are on file with us you can proceed with Protecting God’s Children training course. Please go to www.virtus.org to sign up for a session.
Requirements for Volunteer/Chaperones
Potential volunteers must complete VIRTUS registration online. Background check, code of conduct, and sign-up for the VIRTUS classes will be done electronically.
Go to www.virtus.org to begin the registration process and CLICK "FIRST TIME REGISTRANT". Be sure to choose "Paterson Diocese-Child Protection". Step-by-step registration instructions can be viewed at Virtus Online Volunteer Instructions prior to beginning the registration process.
In addition, the Diocese of Paterson's Human Resources department requires all volunteers to take a 45-minute webinar on workplace harassment. You will need to create a NEW profile in Virtus. Once again, go to www.virtus.org and select "FIRST TIME REGISTRANT". Then, choose "Paterson-Human Resources Anti-Harassment" in the drop down and follow the steps until you get to the webinar.
